As a Career Advisor, you will be conducting vocational and career assessments of jobseekers to determine career objectives, interests, skills, and abilities. Work will include providing guidance to assist jobseekers in making and carrying out career decisions for success in the labor market, identifying suitability for and/or barriers to employment and training, as well as providing appropriate tools and resources for jobseekers to achieve employment goals. You will have the opportunity to promote PA CareerLink services to jobseekers, employers, the general public, and other service providers by coordination of marketing activities with the media, community organizations, schools, and other entities. Additional responsibilities may include:
- Developing and conducting orientations to services, workshops, and presentations
- Assisting jobseekers develop long- and short-term employment goals
- Planning and conducing group and individualized career counseling and coaching
- Assisting jobseekers and employers with PA CareerLink Online enrollment
- Analyzing employer workforce and economic development needs as well as occupations to determine the skill sets needed by jobseekers
- Proposing hiring strategies and solutions to address recruitment and retention issues

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in York.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Career Advisor Trainee (commonwealth title) training program; or
- One year of experience interviewing the public to collect and identify customer needs, evaluating eligibility for programs, and researching data to make decisions, and a bachelor's degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.
