Position Description:

The Grants Department is responsible for seeking, securing, and managing new funding to sustain and grow Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities' programs to maximize community impact.The Research and Evaluation Specialist will participate in the collective effort to measure the impact and effectiveness of programs. Contributes to enhancing the quantitative and qualitative data available to share internally and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies or contributes to the development of program evaluation tools to determine program effectiveness, as needed.
  • Interfaces with systems used to collect, manage, process, and analyze data.
  • Ensures implementation of program evaluation efforts, oversees timely and responsive follow-up to maximize participation rates, and generates White Paper reports summarizing the findings.
  • Provides professional and administrative assistance at all levels in the area of research and evaluation.
  • Regularly tours and shadows internal departments and programs to ensure first-hand knowledge of the existing operations of the company.
  • Supports the execution of the Grants Department relationship management strategy and updates the Customer Relationship (CRM) software regularly.
  • Participates in the grant writing process by leading the research and evaluation design when appropriate.
  • Provides post-award grant management support as appropriate and applicable to research and evaluation.

  • Attends staff meetings, supervision meetings, community meetings, and trainings as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social sciences, public health, public or business administration, or a related field.
  • 3 years of social service working experience, with at least one year of experience conducting research OR, a Master's degree and one year of experience conducting research OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education approved by Human Resources.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of the populations served.
  • Knowledge of strategies for effective program design and development.
  • Skilled in analyzing data, organizational planning, and project management.
  • Creative thinking skills, adaptive personality, and a conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, that allow for professional and positive relationships, evidenced by a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, and positive interactions.
  • Ability to support the team in cultivating and maintaining relationships with potential and existing funders.
  • Ability to travel state-wide occasionally, and work a flexible schedule if needed.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Regular and consistent in-person attendance.
