Local 94 Apprentice Engineer (Summer Helper)

Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Helper handles and performs a variety of non-technical, non-licensed mechanical, electrical, maintenance, HVAC, painting, carpentry, custodial, plumbing, general repair, and other handyperson tasks at facility or complex under direct supervision of a more experienced trade's person.

Job Description

Responsibilities

    • Performsgeneralrepairs and services in all maintenancerelateddisciplines,including;carpentry, mechanics,plumbing,minorelectrical,finishwork,painting,custodial, HVAC, etc.
    • Withdirectionfrom asupervisor,prioritizeworkorders,handleurgentrequests, respondtotenant and clientcallsasrequired,andcomplete any and all assigned preventative maintenanceworkandprocedures
    • Expectedtosupportthevarioustrade personnelata facilityorcomplexinthe performanceandcompletionoftheirdutiesasneededandassigned
    • Helpstoensure all buildingandmaintenance policies,procedures,SOP's,codes,regulations,etc.arefollowedandenforcedincluding safety systemsandstandards

Requirements

    • HighSchool diplomaorGED
    • Minimumof2yearsofexperienceingeneralmaintenance,caretaking, mechanical,electrical,and/orequipmentandbuildingrepairs
    • Mechanicalaptitudeisnecessary; good math skillspreferred
    • Requiresgood communication skills,bothverbal andwritten
    • Mustpossess a high levelofaccuracyandneatness
    • Mustbephysically capableofperformingthedutiesofthe positionincludingbending,squatting,stretchingandliftingupto25poundsonaregularbasis. On occasion,mayberequiredtolift itemsweighing50to100 pounds
    • Mustbeabletoread and followwrittenmanuals and SOP's

Physical Requirements

    • Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,the employeeisregularly requiredtotravelfromfloortofloorandmayberequiredtotraveloutsidebetweenbuildingsinvaryingoutdoorweatherconditions
    • The employeemayalsoberegularly requiredtositorstandfor prolongedperiodsoftime; regularlyusehandstooperate office machinery including, butnotlimitedto,telephones,computers, fax,andphotocopy machines
    • Regularly requiredtowalk, talk,andhear

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $17.00 - $27.23
