We are seeking an experiencedField Service Technician in support of the Ultra-High Purity (UHP) Bulk Gas Equipment for our Western Industrial Gases Division.

This an entrepreneurial opportunity for a career- minded person to work out of a premier Semiconductor Manufacturer in the Greater Phoenix area.


Role and Responsibilities:
The technician will be responsible to provide vital technical and hands-on support to maintain and troubleshoot bulk gas delivery systems installed at Air Products' UHP customer facilities. Individual must be self-motivated and a great teammate willing to work normal 8-hour shifts and able to respond 24/7 to various types of service situations.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and strong technical writing skills - proficient in using MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to collaborate with customers and internal staff to complete report development and other required administrative functions.
  • Capability, flexibility and willingness to adjust to new technologies and apply prior knowledge.
  • Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience, strong team player, self-motivated, and safety conscious.
  • Provide operational oversight of facility support bulk gas equipment, duties to include the following:
    • Generate, modify, and execute detailed Site Work Instructions (SWIMs)
    • Write Temporary Work Instructions (TWI) for non-standard activities and operations.
    • Perform routine maintenance on Entegris purifiers.
    • Monitoring of product deliveries and C of A documentation to ensure product purity is maintained and standards are being followed.
    • Responding to operational alarms retrieved via sight paging system and taking appropriate actions.
    • Formulation of site pass-down documents detailing daily actions and high lighting items that will need continued attention.
    • Making adjustments to site equipment at the customer's request to improve gas delivery.

  • Completing or assisting with site planned maintenance activities.
    • Experience with ultra high purity (UHP) system components; bellows, diaphragm & VCR.
    • Spring loaded regulators, dome loaded regulators and PIC controllers
    • Calibration of UHP instrumentation.
    • Ambient purifier change outs.

  • Work in conjunction with Project Engineers during installation, commissioning, and integration of bulk gas delivery systems
    • Issuing Safety Work Permits.
    • Reviewing contractor work plans.
    • Experience in maintaining electronic controls, pneumatic systems, pumps, pressure vessels, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is preferred.
    • PLC, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance a plus.

  • Experience with bulk gas purifiers, flammable gases, and gas analysis a plus.
  • Position is an hourly position, Monday thru Friday, an 8 hours per day. Off duty call outs may occur but are the exemption and not the norm.
  • Military experience as a Machinist Mate, Electricians Mate, Electronic Technician, Aircraft Maintenance, or Cryogenic Technician would be well suited for this role. Technical School Graduates with experience in areas of Process or Electrical Technology, Industrial Systems, Electrical Power and Controls, Electromechanical Technology, HVAC would be well suited for this role.


Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with validated experience.
  • Technical degree preferred (but not required).
  • 1-3 years previous maintenance and mechanical experience in a plant or facility maintenance environment, or a High School diploma followed by technical school or apprenticeship training, or military experience relating to electrical/mechanical maintenance.

Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
