Position Title: Distribution Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ (WST88)

The Distribution Manager will provide leadership to distribution personnel in a fast paced environment; coach, mentor personnel daily to ensure safety and superior customer service. Exercise critical thinking and problem resolution. Ensure 100% compliance with Federal, State regulations, and company policies.

  • Supervise and lead delivery drivers
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulation
  • Conducts daily safety meetings
  • Studies delivery schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
  • Records drivers' attendance and time for payroll records
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate drivers to achieve goals
  • Responsible for conducting timely and quality performance appraisals to develop and train assigned personnel
  • Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures
  • Trains new drivers using Smith System
  • Performs activities of drivers supervised as required
  • Maintains all required D.O.T. inspection reports and manifests, verifies and releases tickets, and any additional documentation needed in the supervision of drivers
  • Process cylinder orders from branch stores for long haul routes; Process cylinder orders for local routes
  • Collaborate with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials or products
  • Critical thinking and problem resolution
  • Works safely and meets the requirements of all safety procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years industry experience plus supervisory experience.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Smith System Driver Trainer experience desired
  • Excellent communications skills, including verbal, written, dispatching and phone skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Experience using SAP
  • Ability to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including some overtime, if necessary
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
  • Ability to perform work during prolonged sitting and standing of up to 8 hours or more; occasional bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion also required
  • Must be able to work outdoors occasionally in temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees F
  • The associate must occasionally lift up to 60 pounds and/or move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment
