Summary of Position Functions

The foreman l - Pipefitting is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of various HVAC piping systems in various commercial construction projects such as office buildings, schools, and hospitals.

Essential Position Functions

  • Review blueprints and confirm the project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Read and interpret contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform site and/or drawing layout of piping systems according to project drawings.
  • Work on commercial and industrial pipe fitting projects, including new constructions and tenant improvements.
  • Perform layout and installation of pipe fitting focused items and materials.
  • Solder copper fittings, weld pipe, and layout pipe from point to point.
  • Build mechanical rooms and work with thread pipe.
  • Install heating hot water pumps and work with steam pipes/steam traps.
  • Install, update, troubleshoot, and repair trade-specific/project-specific assignments.
  • Perform quality control inspections of work in progress as well as completed work.
  • Understanding of ASME and ANSI Codes and Standards as they apply to project drawings and specifications.
  • Assist Supervisors and Project Management team in Project Preplanning for projects assigned listing the following but not limited to:
    • Labor requirements.
    • Delegate tasks to team members.
    • On-site dates for Equipment, Fabricated Pipe, and purchased Materials.
    • Specifications for Pipe Fabrication and Installation.
    • Equipment Rental Requirements.
    • Identifies Labor, Materials, Equipment Rentals, and Cost to complete documents when requested.
  • Oversee each phase on-site to ensure the project moves smoothly.
  • Maintains Daily Reports and all weekly/daily required paperwork.
  • Document materials and equipment use, as well as any problems that arise.
  • Follows company safety policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • 5+ years of professional piping experience; supervisory roles a plus.
  • Journeyman License a plus.
  • 30hr OSHA Certification a plus.
  • Computer Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must have experience in chilled water, heating hot water, and condenser water.
  • Experience in rolled grooved carbon steel, copper and dx piping and HDPE.
  • Must have knowledge of rigging, disassembly, reassembly and inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and components.
  • Backflow preventer experience.
  • Welding experience a plus.
  • Sheetmetal experience a plus.
  • HVAC Install experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload, prioritize tasks, and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple subject matter experts while synthesizing information.
  • Ability to effectively speak and communicate information and respond to questions from customers and staff.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to analyze and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Journeyman License a plus.
  • 30hr OSHA Certification a plus.
