Basic Job Functions:

The Copywriter will join First Solar's Content and Creative Services team, which is responsible for delivering the storytelling platforms required to enhance the company's brand and reputation. As part of this compact, entrepreneurial team, the writer will be responsible for translating technical or complex ideas into compelling business content and storylines.

The candidate will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of First Solar's operating environment, including stakeholder behavior, technology, key differentiators, and corporate positions.
  • Embrace and live First Solar's values, effectively collaborating across functions, demonstrating agility in the face of a rapidly evolving operational environment, and ensuring full accountability and ownership for mission-critical tasks.
  • Adapt to and evolve First Solar's tone of voice and messaging, ensuring consistency and alignment with corporate positions.
  • Think big and not be afraid to be creative, while committing to continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Manager of Content and Creative Services, the Copywriter will be part of the company's Brand, Corporate, and Marketing Communications team, and will have the opportunity to engage with stakeholders across a range of different functions.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum three to five years experience as a marketing/business writer in a corporate environment.
  • Proven experience in planning and writing B2B content (experience in the renewable energy or manufacturing industry is a plus).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Portfolio of work required.

  • Fluency in English with strong writing skills.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, with a clear and simple communication style in both written and spoken word.
  • Able to translate technical or complex ideas into concise, business-oriented messages, and create digestible content out of those complex ideas.
  • Understands how to craft a story that builds trust and engages the reader.
  • Able to think strategically and produce concepts independently.
  • Deftly manage multiple projects, both strategic and tactical, simultaneously.
  • Great ability to craft clear and coherent product and brand messaging.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen and be curious.
  • Strong planning and project management capabilities, combined with results-focused execution skills.
  • Understanding of the digital/social media environment and tools.
  • Ability to work and thrive in high-pressure environments, while effectively managing expectations.
  • Global mindset and an understanding of linguistic and cultural nuances.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent thinking/direction.
  • Ideate, write, and edit copy for corporate branding initiatives, marketing campaigns, long-form and short-form B2B content, social media, videos, and messaging strategy and development.
  • Discover and capture First Solar's stories and translate them into effective writing across multiple platforms, including web, social media, trade publications, newsletters, email campaigns, ads and industry and award submittals.
  • Experience creating and/or defining a branded voice and tone.
  • Produce compelling content that reflects First Solar's key messaging, writing and brand guidelines.
  • Create relevant and meaningful content for specific consumer segments while ensuring consistent product messaging across all marketing channels.
  • Update website as needed including content updates and development of new content.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of First Solar's consumer segments including the needs/goals, value drivers, and preferences.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the features, functionality, and technical properties of First Solar's full range of products.
  • Work with other internal and external copywriters to ensure voice and tone is consistent across all campaigns, communications, and platforms.
  • Work closely with project teams to brainstorm ideas and develop messaging for new campaigns and other requested materials.
  • Ensure communications across the company are consistent in tone, messaging, and brand.
  • Draft engaging copy for sales presentations and documents.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure copy and design function together and create a synergistic experience.

  • Reports to the Manager of Content and Creative Services.

Travel:

  • 10% - 20%

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $63,900 - $85,000 Annually
